Just to complicate your life a little, if it's coming from a windows platform you might also see it in a few other formats:

*N*: 32 digits = 00000000000000000000000000000000

*D*: 32 digits separated by hyphens =
00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

*B*: 32 digits separated by hyphens, enclosed in braces =
{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

*P*: 32 digits separated by hyphens, enclosed in parentheses =
(00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000)

*X*: Four hexadecimal values enclosed in braces, where the fourth
value is a subset of eight hexadecimal values that is also enclosed
in braces =
{0x00000000,0x0000,0x0000,{0x00,0x00,0x00,0x00,0x00,0x00,0x00,0x00}}

These are all various string (hex) representations of a 16 byte number.

Here's one of the links from the search:

Basically for the iSeries needs, the GUID is really going to be just a character value with the format of the example below:

24285001-9382-1940-ad63-0004ac10

subject: What is GUID format

Morning everyone
Maybe I am showing my ignorance - but then that's nothing new.
I am involved in a brand new project and have been told that a parameter is going to be passed to the as400 in GUID format.
I am googling "GUID format AS400" and even though its mentioned all over the place, I am having trouble in locating how to store this data (maximum size etc. ) on the as400 as this parameter will be needed elsewhere.
If anyone can help, it would be MUCH appreciated
