For confirmation I decided to open up a ticket with IBM on this.
Apparently IBM really doesn't know and they've checked with four other people with one person volunteering to test this.

I am using HMC and not IVM. (That was a question IBM asked.)

And, yes, the guested lpar has some hardware of it's own: a 2844 IOP and a 280D fiber tape card. I realize the P7 may tell me something crude to do with that IOP.
