generate is for identity columns, you know, like an order number, customer
number or some such number you want to system to automatically increment.

You can do what you want but not in the physical table. It will be in a
view. For example
create view rob/inventory as(
select itemnumber,
OpeningBalance+receipts+adjustments-issues as OnHand
from erplib/itemmaster)

Then it's easy to do
select itemnumber, onhand
from rob/inventory
order by onhand desc

Does DB2 support adding a calculated field such as

...
int fld1,
int fld2,
int fld3 generate as (fld1+fld2));

I thought the GENERATED ALWAYS AS would work but its burping on that.
