The idea is that if the entry on the data queue is *DSPF, then READ the
display file, otherwise do whatever the entry says (which in this
business case would be to upadte the data and WRITE the display file).
It's always fascinating to learn new capabilities of the 5250 interface. But how would this help Booth? 28 people taking orders at the same time, all using the same DSPF, all waiting on the same queue?

The Information Center says the queue can't be keyed. See the CRTDSPF command help.


Create 28 different display files with 28 different data queues? Each user overriding to "his" display file / queue?


Yes, different data queue for each listener. You don't need different display files; you can override the display file to a different queue for each job, and then use a subscribe and publish pattern for distribution of the events. The initial triggering event is sent to the publisher, which then repeats the event to each subscribed queue. Pretty straightforward
