Just this morning my Director of IT asked me to start looking into using
.net for front end development with the back end still running on the i.
After pursuing CGIDEV and then using ProfoundLogic's RPGsp with acceptable
results, he feels the need to provide a more 'advanced' UI (ie windows).
I'm glad to see people like Richard Schoen and Craig Pelkie haven't given
up pursuing .net implementations. Let's face it - it is a windows world
out there, and anything less is often going to be perceived as inferior. My
shop embraced the browser as the UI but we are still hampered by browser
behavior across platforms (Chrome, FF, IE, Safari) and I know that each
iteration of windows and/or .net has it's issues too...
But I will be at Common in Columbus and would like it if there were some
.net sessions. I know I am ultimately responsible for my learning .net -
and one of the biggest values of Common is meeting like minded people and
the potential for support they offer after the conference is over - but if
there are no sessions to attract .net people then that is an opportunity
lost.
