Don,

Do you remember which backplane you were going to use? EJ0D, EJ0E, or EJ0F.

Pete, the 710 has 4GB mem and the 720 has 8GB.  The hdwe cost is 1,700 less for the 710.  The software cost is the same for each.  What I found curious is that the i5 config for the 720 is a bit more costly than the unix version on the 720.  There must be some other hdwe feature that is distinguisable there - as you imply.  On the 710, the Unix and i5 hardware model is the same cost.

Why on earth would you order a 710 and not a 720 when you are getting an IBM I
machine?  You should really get the 720, which is meant for IBM i.  The 710 is
meant for a Unix workload.

What disk, backplane,  & disk controller did you order?

All new orders after approximately July 1, have shipping charges.  Expect around
400 dollars shipping for a system

All,

Ever get so excited for something to happen, then have to wait on IBM Corp. to
respond??

I am waiting to pull the trigger on the IBM website with an online order of a
Power7 710 Express Server 8231-E1C1, with 5770-SSA-1-1014.  The problem is that
I cannot seem to get any timely answers to these following questions posed to
SEVERAL IBM locales:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings,

I am about (anxiously) to order online the 8231-E1c1 710  express server with
the i5 5770-SSA-1014 O/S. My question is this: Can you  please give me a "list"

of all the software that is INCLUDED with that software  subscription?? (I want
to make sure I will get a FULL VERSION of the O/S).

Is there also free shipping - with 48 hour delivery? I have  registered with IBM
Partneworld as Exact-I.T.-Systems -  would that provide any further discount
and/or promo code  ??

Thanks,
Don C.
