Eric,

Yet another option is to use CGIDEV2 to create XML based Excel files.

Here is an article by Paul Tuohy on the subject. http://www.itjungle.com/fhg/fhg081308-story01.html

In addition to the POI solutions that Scott has given us, our RPG2SQL Integrator product can do this nicely from ILE RPG programs. It makes a connection, basically, to an instance of Excel that lets us do almost anything you can do in the application.

888.rjs.soft is the toll-free access point - ask for me or Rich or sales for more info and/or a quick demo.

Jon Paris has also written some on using an OAR handler to do this with native IO opcodes - pretty neat.

Rob Berendt, you recommended writing to Excel format directly,

Please explain more! Eric
