Rob,

You're on the right track and with LTO to LTO the blocking won't be a problem. Yes the *END will just add the LTO3s to the end.

I've never worried about the TODENSITY parm as I think it defaults to the device type and that works fine, however *CTGTYPE should work as well.

We have a tape library with multiple drives. I know this is supported:
DUPTAP FROMDEV(TAPKVL01)
TODEV(TAPKVL01)
TOSEQNBR(*END)
FROMVOL(Y2011)
TOVOL(YREND)

Question 1:
Will that TOSEQNBR(*END) allow me to merge multiple tapes (Y2011, Y2010,
Y2009) on to 1 (YREND)? I believe so.

Question 2:
Do I need to be concerned about the density when duping from multiple
LTO3's to 1 LTO5 or does it just figure it out? Or should I use
TODENSITY(*CTGTYPE)?
