Daryl,
A couple of questions...
1. When you do a DSPFD on the physical file in question what are the values for "Journal images" and "Journal entries to be omitted"?
2. Can you provide the DSPJRN command you are running?
The MA entry you mention is an entry for Database File Operations (journal code D).
Modifications to the file's contents will be under Record Level Operations (journal code R).

Subject: missing records in journal
@Chuck, thanks
I still do not understand why when I DSPJRN to an outfile, it ignores the records I need to restore.
It seems that if the original member does not exist in the physical file, then the DSPJRN ignores all records for that member. Manually creating the member does not help. The member is created with different ID's and so the member's records are not copied to the OUTFILE. I have tried many options with the command parms without success.
Apart from restoring the records from the journal, I need to copy the records from the journal into a different file which is then used for analysis.
