EXTERNAL NAME 'MODULES/DATE(ConvertToDate)'
Why not just use iDate available at www.think400.dk/downloads.htm for--
free?
It supports all kinds of dates and is implemented using a service program.
At minimum it would give you a example of how to write a UDF function.

I am following [this article](RPG
http://www.mcpressonline.com/programming/rpg/using-rpg-in-sql.html)
to create a UDF. The only difference from the article is the names
and the
logic. When I tried to test it I get:list
SELECT ConvertToDate(DDATE), DPERNO FROM PBMASTP DATE in MODULES
type *SRVPGM not found.
I know the path is correct and I have confirmed it to be correct.
Here is what the CREATE FUNCTION looks like:
CREATE FUNCTION CONVERTTODATE (
DATEIN DECIMAL(8, 0) )
RETURNS DATE
LANGUAGE RPGLE
SPECIFIC QMFILES.CONVERTTODATE
DETERMINISTIC
NO SQL
RETURNS NULL ON NULL INPUT
NO EXTERNAL ACTION
NOT FENCED
EXTERNAL NAME 'MODULES/DATE(ConvertToDate)'
PARAMETER STYLE SQL ;
Any thoughts? This is my first UDF I have tried to create.
