The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I can see that I'm going to have to do some more research before blindly changing the system setting.
I talked to the PC guy, and he found a setting in whatever sql he is using and it now translates properly. This is enough for getting on with, while I research.
