We use the same variable names regularly. Can't you just move the variable
definitions to the end, the way they compile wants?

R R1CONS FONT(&FONTID (*POINTSIZE
&PNTSIZ))

RCONS 210 POSITION(&DWN &ACC)
DWN 5S 3P
ACC 5S 3P
FONTID 10A P
PNTSIZ 4S 1P

Subject: *AFPDS Printer file - how to use same horizontal positioning
variable HPOS and vertical VPOS for multiple record formats
Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx

Is it possible to use the same positioning variable names in DDS (and then
COBOL)?

I cant get past the DDS compile - it wants PFLINE to appear BEFORE the
positioning variables.

Any better way to do this so I don't need to have two positioning variables
for EACH element on the page?

Thanks!
