Maybe specify a Program Status Data area and
after call QCMDEXC look at:
ErrorType 40-42 MCH or CPF
ErrorNumber 43-46 1234 or whatever

Subject: what is a good method for CHKOBJ from cobol?

Can QCMDEXC invoke CHKOBJ and return a yes or no (object exists or not?)

Or is it best to create a CL with a CHKOBJ and MONMSG and call that to return a parm?

Or any other suggestions?

What I am trying to do:

A pgm adds a page segment (logo or signature) to an overlay report (*AFPDS).

I want to make sure that I don't add a signature page segment (type=*pagseg) that doesn't exist.
