Joe,

Am I correct in looking at EDT as the follow-up of EGL Community Edition?

Thanks,

EDT is the open source version of EGL. It will not replace RBD, which is the bells and whistles for fee commercial offering. The commercial offering supports a couple of major pieces that EDT does not: thin client UI using JSF and generation of COBOL on the mainframe.

You can read a lot more about EDT on the EDT site.

As to getting started <author plug> you can get my book </author plug>.
It's written for RBD, but a lot of the stuff is very similar. There is also at least one tutorial for EDT but I can't remember where it is.
<sheepish grin>
