Remember that even if you create a recommended index, it might not be used for the access plan. In fact, it might help in deciding that another index is better to use.

I forget whether last date used attribute of an LF (EVI index type) is updated when the optimizer uses it in its process. I do remember some discussions about that, to see whether to get rid of unused objects like indexes.
