John,
I see you have been back & forth on the config so pardon me if you've
already
done these steps:
Obviously (imho) if this 5135 pulls plain paper from drawer 3, and other
5135's do not,
then that's an override in the control panel of the printer. (I had a
similar issue
with a Ricoh recently-all the same except 1).
Therefore your wscst needs to treat a request from drawer 1 with the value
of drawer 3.
(btw - did you mention how the other 5135's configured on the system?
Your phrase "To create the WSCST, I used an existing WSCST. The existing
one
forced portrait, which was also what was requested in this area." brings
questions..
The WSCST needs to be created from the same mfrtypmdl as your devd. So
if *LEXOPTRAT is mfrtypmdl, then do the rtvwscst command to get the base
source for that model to then modify.. You will most likely never be
successful with
a lexoptrat devd and a hp4 wscst.(pardon me if you already have this
straight)
The IBM doc Information on Printers from Xerox is your friend
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas1cc6ee2005999a36d862569c100796da4
For WorkCentre 5135
*mfrtypmdl = *lexoptrat or *hp4 (with the corresponding *wscst
LPR = Y
PJL = N (so you cannot use the IBMPJLDRV or HPPJLDRV...
SNMP=Y - use IBMSNMPDRV
IPP = N
This doc from IBM snmp connections read the paragraph on Xerox printers
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas194e73364f979e388862569030071c398
it describes verifying the snmp port is enabled on the printer .
This could be why prev snmp attempt went to PND.
Finally - IBM doc "Drawer Redirection for Xerox Document Centre Printers"
https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas188991fbe614557e686256bcd0055ed32
read it all - has both an old & new way to do drawer 3...
And another in case your WorkCentre Xerox is diff than "Document Centre"
https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas1bbf048cc51f9d5b8c1256acd00555574
Drawer Redirection for HP PCL5 compatible printers (use the *HP4 mfrtypmdl
it's very imformative on the issues.
Good luck,
Jim Franz

No. We have other 5135s here. They work. This one is odd that the
plain paper is in drawer 3. But, otherwise, nothing unusual. I keep
thinking there is something odd about the specific printer. The
on-site Xerox rep says it is (his words, not mine) "an AS/400 issue".
I just wanted to make sure I had tried everything possible so he can't
blame it on "the AS/400". I can't imagine what else could be done,
thus my asking the gurus. Changing to LEXOPTRAT was a worthwhile
change. I wish the results had been different. (Definition of
insanity: do the same thing multiple times expecting different
results). Xerox guy won't be back until Monday.

John,
Have you called IBM? I got to a young lady the other day who was

Just tried IBMPJLDRV HPPJLDRV. and IBMIPPDRV. ALL resulted in a
spool file status of PND, finally resulting in "Remote device rejected
an attempt..." I did not try NETSTNDRV.
