Hi Vern,

My problem isn't really the message -- my problem is that the command doesn't run, so the file doesn't get changed. In the past, I've been able to reply "ignore", and the command has gone ahead and changed the file, but now the second message just tells
me that data might be lost and the command is still sitting there on the command line.

I don't know the message - might be a diagnostic.

But there's a way to remove these from the log - it involves bracketing
your CHGPF command with a start message and an end message - your record
the message key for each, then loop through from the first to the last
and remove any you do not want, by some criteria. This link -
*http://tinyurl.com/7gec8lu - takes you to a page in a WDSC site - it's
taken from a KB article that I can't find right now.

HTH
Vern
