That caution is a very real risk. A strong reason on why it is encouraged
to not set your firmware upgrades to be manged by the OS if you have an
HMC. We fell behind on HMC upgrades and firmware upgrades. We were back
on HMC 5 something when I saw HMC 7 and wanted it NOW!. I had to stagger
between upgrading firmware and HMC code until I finally got both current.
