You can rename the record format in RPG. Instead of attempting to 'prefix'
it.

Subject: Using 2 external print files in one program

Morning all
We have a program (PROGA) that uses an external print file (PRTF01 - ipds)
which is also used in other programs.
There is a need to change PROGA to use a second print file (PRTF02 - afpds).
This second print file is also used in other different programs.
My predicament is that there are field names and record names in BOTH print
files that are the same.
I attempted to use prefix on the PRTF02 but that doesn't work on record
names I thought of the following remedies :- Changing the field names and
record names in PRTF02 - this will also mean changing ALL the other programs
that use this print file.
Creating a copy of PROGA that uses PRTF02 instead of PRTF01 - this will mean
changing the program(s) that call PROGA to somehow recognize whether or not
to call PROGA and/or PROGB. Using this method will mean that any future
changes MAY need a change to BOTH programs As always, any and all
suggestions will be gratefully appreciated
