This is a great showing and support from everyone. The people who belong to the IBM i community have out done themselves in support of a great cause, and the COMMON Education Foundation will be able to use this money toward the award of the Al Barsa memorial scholarship. As David said in his blog, now we should look at the people in our community and find someone who is worthy of receiving this great honor.
Michelle August, the COMMON Education Foundation Chairperson, will join me on stage at the 2012 COMMON Annual conference in Anaheim Disneyland, and announce the winner. Remember you can submit an application for a co-worker, a friend, as well as yourself. The CEF will then review the applications and pick the person that best matches the qualifications.

Subject: *** ADMIN: Al Barsa Challenge followup
Folks:
The Al Barsa Challenge for 2011 is officially over.
We received $2295 in contributions and had $4050 in matching donations for a total of $6345!
I think Al would be proud of our community.
You can see details on my IMHO blog at
http://urlq.us/ab11results.
(There may be a few outliers that I haven't been informed of ... I'll update the bog post if necessary)
Now that we've raised funds for the Al Barsa Memorial Scholarship ... we need people to actually RECEIVE the scholarship.
if you know someone who exemplifies the commitment and passion to IBM i and it's community, that Al had, please consider nominating them for the scholarship.
You can download the nomination form at
http://urlq.us/abnom.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me privately.
