The free EGL does not have the EGL program call support. You can still call RPG programs via a stored procedure or write your own Java class (EGL is phenomenal about that). But have no fear, the RPG program call is on the priority list for version 0.8.0! :)

Am I right? The free EGL does NOT work directly with RPG programs? This
needs to be clearly stated.

Seasons goodness!

Still doesn't look like RDi is free. But you can download a trail copy.

You may be confusing RBD and RDi.

RDi (which no longer exists, and is now RDP with the IBM i tools, or
RDPi as we like to call it<smile>) is not and likely never will be
free. RDPi is the replacement for ADTS (PDM, SEU, SDA) and will
probably always be a chargeable product, currently around $700 a seat.

RBD is the enterprise-level Rational tooling. It's a bit higher in
price, and it provides all the tools I mentioned in a previous post, and
is primarily targeted at folks moving from other VAGen products. It has
all the bells and whistles.

EDT is the free, open source version of EGL. It's at release 0.7.0,
with 0.8.0 on the way hopefully early next year.

Does that clear things up a little?
