FWiW, often the requirement to know *SRC vs *DATA is relevant only with regard to the existence of a database physical file member. In that case, RTVMBRD has the FILETYPE parameter for which a CL variable *CHAR (5) provides either "*DATA (data file member) and *SRC (source file member)." If which member is moot, then MBR(*FIRST) can be specified.
