Duh, yes there were DVDs. Can't remember if one was bootable. The HMC rebooted a couple of time during the upgrade.

If you don't have the DVDs, you don't have the recovery. You can't boot from the CDs, only from the DVDs. They will also say on them recovery Media.

Yes, I did Save HMC data.

Ah, the recovery media... Not sure we have that. I inherited the job and a consultant upgraded the HMC. I have a USB drive she made with a backup prior to the upgrade. Plus the CDs that she used to do the upgrade.
