Then you might want to look at Communigate (
http://www.communigate.com) - I believe the good Doctor F. is still running it. Runs in PASE if I recall correctly.
I notice from this chart (
http://www.communigate.com/main/purchase/download.html) that they run on multiple Linux versions as well as mainframe and goodness knows what else. I tried it briefly a while ago and was quite impressed by it.
