The v5r4 Infocenter has a sample.
I could not find anything that says printer cannot use host print transform.
Spooled file does need to be *afpds

I don't have a v5r4 system to try - I would make sure you are up to date with Printer ptf group.

Did you have the ibm printers that supported the AFPRSC keyword. My
understanding is host print transform is not supported. Any chance you
have a code example that still works? Any info you have may help many of
