Don,

Both AIX and IBM I had support announced on the exact same day for Power7. This might have been in the past, but I don't think this is the case. There will be things that AIX gets that i doesn't get (possibly doesn't need either).

When we were at Power Systems Champions in August for the announcement of the Power7, pretty much everyone was able to take advantage of it at the same time.

Pete

Good question. Some of the companies I've worked for seemed to make it a habit to hire the most brain dead people they could for operations.
Companies don't understand just how critical good operators are to the successful running of the overall picture.

It was interesting that all the stuff she was talking about was only available then on AIX...but then they usually get all the new hardware goodies before (insert system here) does... :)

Hi Don

thanks for that. We've installed them at a couple of customer sites and the feedback has been good.

I like the idea of plugging in an SSD backup cartridge. Can they improve operators enough to keep up with the advanced technology and develop one that will always remember to change the SSD cartridge ?
