It has been suggested to use the iNav compare and update function - actually part of Management Central - but that's not really intended for groups and CUMs. And it has that 'PTFs must exist as *SAVFs in QGPL prerequisite.

A better way would be to create install media from the test box using LICPGM menu option 40. (Note that this requires dedicated system on the test box to create the media.) Use that media to do the upgrade on the production box. If you have compatible tape between systems I would use that media. Otherwise you can also create an image catalog of DVDs and use that as the target in option 40 then FTP those media to the production box and use them for the upgrade.

By using this method you are upgrading with media that already contains exactly the PTFs you want and when the upgrade is completed you simply do INZSYS, IPL once, do a backup, test, go live - no additional PTFs.

Hi, our prod box is going to be upgraded to V6R1 in a few weeks (currently at V5R4M5) and our test box was upgraded to V6R1 a few months ago. In the months between the upgrades ptf's have been loaded to the V6R1 machine, individuals as well as grpptf's and I'd like to put all the ptf's that have been updated on my test box at V6R1...onto my prod box after the upgrade. I don't think that can be done easily but I wanted to know what you folks thought about that and how it could be accomplished without much pain.
Thanks, Frank
