CPYSPLF just does not support *AFPDS device type - it works with *SCS and *IPDS, but that won't help you here.

So one must go with SPLF APIs - Rob pointed you to one. There've also been a couple IBM KBs on this, but they have a warning that the method they describe might not work in future releases, as I recall.

I have a need to copy an AFPDF spooled file to a physical file.

The AFP spooled file attributes contains:

Device Type *AFPDS

Variable Font Y

No overlays (front or back)

The CPYSPLF command does not work, returns error CPA3311

Attributes of file BRSLRPRTF not supported. (G C)

I respond with a G

And get error:

File SLRPRTF number 1 cannot be displayed, copied, or sent.

No records are copied to my physical file.

Using WRKSPLF I can use option 5 and it displays fine (except a warning
message - Text functions not displayed.)

Which is fine.

Anybody have a solution of how to get the data into my physical file.

If IBM allows it in WRKSPLF then there must be a way for me to do it??
