1. what is system value QPASTHRSVR set to? I ask because it is
possible the value is being exceeded when the failure occurs.
2. Does the target system have system value QAUTOVRT set to *REGFAC? If
so does the exit program registered to exit point QIBM_QPA_DEVSEL allow
the user to sign on?
3. What happens on the failing STRPASTHR if us supply the remote user id
and password?

Subject: cpf8916 on selective devices - not solved
We are trying to pass through with the STRPASTHR command:
We only have authority to the 3 devices in VRTDEV.
Two users get this:
Cannot select virtual device QPADEV0003 at system XXXXX (omitted)
Everyone else works ok.
The virtual devices do have QUSER at *CHANGE authority.
I saw that when I googled the problem.
My understanding is that once you issue the STRPASTHR, it uses QUSER
authority.
I cannot get on the archives for some reason to check there for an
answer.
We are using the same gateway on our network setup on the PC.
I am on WINDOWS 7 which works, and so are the 2 that do not work.
Mine works, and it always moves down the list 0001, 0002, then 0003
finding the next available virtual device.
The ones that do not work always select 0003.
It almost seems that it 'tries' 1 and 2 then gives up at 3.
WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A SOLUTION:
They needed to change the display size to 27 x 132, that was the
difference between ours(that worked) and theirs(that did not work).
I guess since I specified a virtual device on the STRPASTHR the display
size has to match.
BUT...
It stopped working so I changed the size back to 24 X 80 and it worked
again.
Any suggestions? This is over a VPN.
