If you use the O_TRUNC option on the open() API, it'll clear the file.

With QShell you can do something like:

QSH CMD('printf "" > myfile')

I can't think of a native CL command, but if you're planning to use CPYTOSTMF, you can specify STMFOPT(*REPLACE) to replace the contents of the file without needing to pre-clear it.
