Probably IBM support can tell you - it's become time to contact them,
methinks.

Just ran through the list of drivers. Only the IPP driver added anything to the joblog. The others only have CPF3473 but there are no messages preceding it as to what the error is.--
The IPP driver issued CPD6F88 and included that the device has returned IPP status message 406. Yhe explanation for status message 406 is "client error not found".
It was my understanding that the only PTF needed was for the device/model information. But, the model shows up.
Can anybody tell me if this is a PTF issue, or a printer issue?

It>was< *HP5SI. Just changed it to *RICOHMP5000 per IBM page. No change. From what I saw, (may have missed something), PTF was only needed if printer model was not presented. Maybe I read that wrong.

I>did< forget to change the manufacturer type/model. DUH! May do that yet tonight, remotely. No excuse for not checking more completely.--
Thanks. I will also look at the PTF possibility.

IBM has info on all manner of ASCII printers - I see there a page for--
Savin's at *http://tinyurl.com/3l9vh8l* .
It does say you might need to put on a PTF - this document is from May
of this year, so it's really current. All the options seem possible with
this printer.
Maybe you don't have the PTF installed?
Seems you should not need to use a remote OUTQ - that'd be the LPR
option, which IS possible, according to the article.

Being out of loop is not fun. I was told that a Xerox printer was to be used in this area. Had a device description created, and it worked. Then, it didn't. Found out that the Xerox had been replaced with a Savin 9228. Same IP address.--
I did a Google search, and saw that the 9228 is supported. What I don't know is whether it is supported at v5r4. I have tried *NETSTNDRV, *HPPJLDRV, *IBMSNMPDRV, *IBMPJLDRV, and *IBMIPPDRV.
When I try to start the writer, the writer ends immediately. Job log only says "An internal program error has occurred.".
Do I have to change anything else when changing the driver program? Is this device not supported at v5r4? I wish we we current on the os. But, in a little over a year, this system gets scrapped. Replaced with a network link to an unknown system, far away.
I have not tried remote output queue yet. I had hoped to get away from that.
I appreciate any thoughts.
