That was my thought. But, then, I'm not much at this admin stuff.

Sounds like someone's solution to a problem that a/the hostserver(s) were
stopping, instead of digging and determining what was causing the server to
stop.

None that I've been able to find, except what PWRDWNSYS does.

Our IPL options, by the way, are:

Display IPL Attributes
System: DTO
System Features:
Restart type . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *SYS
Keylock position . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *NORMAL

Hardware Functions:
Hardware diagnostics . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *MIN

Operating System Functions:
Compress job tables . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *NONE
Check job tables . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *ABNORMAL
Rebuild product directory . . . . . . . . . . . : *NONE
Mail Server Framework recovery . . . . . . . . : *NONE
Display status . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *ALL
Start TCP/IP . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *YES

Operating System Options:
Clear job queues . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *NO
Clear output queues . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *NO
Clear incomplete joblogs . . . . . . . . . . . : *NO
Start print writers . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : *YES
Start system to restricted state . . . . . . . : *NO

So TCP/IP is started at IPL unless started in a restricted state.

DO you have any endhostsvr??

Some time ago, before I came to work here, a consultant installed a couple
of job scheduler entries to STRHOSTSVR SERVER(*ALL) at 0700 and 1100 every
day.

Is this really necessary? Most of the servers that I want started (that I
have checked anyway) are started at IPL when TCP starts. And according to
the entries in the QATOCSTART table.

I'm wondering why he added these entries? And why would he have thought
it
needed to run twice every day? We are on V5R1.
