Actually a save does your best damage notification. I was getting
numerous damaged objects during a save so I started preceding my saves
with a full RCLSTG. I still got damaged objects during the save. It got
to the point where I was saving certain libraries (basically all those
which held any *MGTCOL objects) to save files prior to full system saves.
I believe a save is what actually turns on the damaged flag on the object
description.
