I googled "blank page in browser" and found many hits relating to java. I
had java v6.22 installed.
My last java update (4/12) failed with the installer saying a corrupt dll
was in the install package. So I just ignored it and figured it would be
fixed when the next update comes around.
So I tried to update again today and it failed again. So I uninstalled
Java entirely and lo and behold systeminetwork works in both FF and IE.
So I download java again and this time it installs (v6.24), but now
systeminetwork is broken again.
So I uninstall java again and during the uninstall my Trend Micro office
scan antivirus pops up stating it's detected virus/malware - namely
something called java_dldr.wq - which it quarantined.
So right now I don't have any java installed and systeminetwork can be
accessed in both FF & IE.
Now the question becomes 'can I live without sun's version of java'?
I use the eclipse based version of Lotus Notes, as well as RDP V8 - both
of which I *believe* are heavily reliant on java. I don't know enough
about the java requirements but the apps seem to be running without
problem. Do these products contain their own java engines? Or should I
attempt to install Sun's java again?
Anyone out there living without Sun's Java?
Thanks, Jerry
