From RPG. I mention WebSphere because that what TPtI requested.
My first choice would be to just renew the license, but that's not my call.

Why Websphere in particular - or do you just mean from RPG?
Scott Klement has written articles on the subject of accessing non-IBM i
databases and has a presentation on the topic on his website:

You can also do it via PHP since it has connectors for most every DB out
there.
One good thing about renewing the RPG2SQL license is that they now have an
RPG OA handler that allows you to simply use Read/Write/Chain/Update to
access that remote database.
I'm sure others will have other ideas.
