You will want to replace the 4GB with the 8GB chips. Power the machine
down, unplug. You will have to first remove the 4 fans (You lift up the
orange tabs), and then pull the four blue pins up on the big plastic
housing. Then lift the plastic housing, which will uncover the Dimm slots.
Put wrist strap on, and then remove the old ones (you will see two 4GB dimms
in each set of 4 Dimms slots). Afterwards, return the plastic housing, push
the blue pins in, put the fans back in, and push orange tab down. Bring up
machine, go into DST to make sure you see all the new memory. Then inside
of hardware service manager, take option 4 and you should remove the old
memory. Then you can ship the old memory to me, and I can use it in one of
my Power6 machines.
