The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Interesting.
I just did a bit of benchmarking.
Once I set up a new SQuirreL connection (specifying SYSTEM and a library
list), I did a query of 6 fields of an entire 24K record file, with the
DISPLAYVAL function invoked on four of the six fields I included.
SQuirreL got back to me in under 17 seconds, with the following
statistics (on one attempt):
Row Count: 24006
Elapsed Time (seconds): Total: 15.969, SQL query: 0.078, Building
output: 15.891
The same query without the DISPLAYVAL:
Elapsed Time (seconds): Total: 0.719, SQL query: 0.016, Building output:
0.703
So it doesn't look like I need to be all that concerned about optimizing
the DISPLAYVAL UDF after all.
