That is a big DEPENDS upon how the system is configured. It is not
difficult to remove disk drives from a system and most of the work can
be done concurrently. Adding is always concurrently if you have the
available disk slots. However if you have hardware partitions
controlled by an HMC, the disk controllers and all drives attached can
only belong to 1 partition. Now if you are running one of the
partitions as guested, it can be done fairly easily. However I have
read about it but not done it myself.
