At one time there was Mimix. And it was good. (Parodying Genesis.)
It expanded and had numerous features.
Then IBM came out with remote journalling. This enabled numerous others
to get on the bandwagon.
Mimix came out with Mimix HA Lite. (This is what we have.)
Al Barsa did a lot of Mimix. I think his opinion was that, unless you
were doing 1-to-many, HA Lite should be all you ever need. An example of
1-to-many would be your production server (Detroit) replicating some data
to Dallas and some to Phoenix.
Then, there was a wholesale consumption of many of the HA products by one
company. One would think they would milk some as cash cows while
encouraging conversion to their flagship product. Really hasn't happened.
They may be some legitimate concerns with level of service and
committment to IBM's Early Ship Program for new releases.
