But the only *LIB objects that are represented will be those that have a *FILE object of the type\attribute necessary to cause the System Database Cross-Reference [the *DBXREF] to track that file's existence. And then, there is no description of the library object, only of the file(s) in the library.

While there is a SCHEMATA view or some such in library SYSIBM, that is implemented as a UDTF which is no better than doing the DSPOBJD QSYS/*ALL *LIB *FULL OUTPUT(*OUTFILEP). In fact, using the TABLE FUNCTION SCHEMAS() in SYSIBM on which that catalog VIEW is defined, a message is logged from one can infer that the DSPOBJD is used to implement the function; at least back in v5 it was. Ugh.
