I have had this happen with TCP/IP jobs. Nothing would kill the job
and eventually it would take the system down hard. Now when it happens
I go straight to an IPL. Luckily, it doesn't happen very often (three
times in the past 5 years).

The job will use up the entire CPU and refuses to end. It takes
forever, but when you are able to look at the job the program stack is
empty.

All were user jobs.

The problem is that whilst we as a company support the ERP application there are others that handle the machine and we know more or less zilch about what ptf:s (if any) they install.

I do believe that the real problem may be a missing PTF or cume package.
