One issue is journal receivers. Changing system date can really cause
some headaches when processing them.

One option, while prepping for Y2K was to save your entire system.
Change
the date to the future. Test. Restore the system. Changing the date
back was a no-no. Somewhere it is documented why but that's the 30,000'
