FYI:

You are querying AS/400 data? If yes, go to
www.think400.dk/downloads.htmand get iDate. You will be able just say
iDate(YourField) and then treat as
a date data type. Don't know about more efficient. Might be and might not.

That should be
www.think400.dk/downloads.htm
or
www.think400.dk/downloads
