Sorry to hear the company is shutting down.

As James suggested you can easily run both the LAN connection and console on the same network. The 810 in my office at home does precisely that. The network address of the console is 172.xx.xx.9 (set down in SST) and the network address for the i5/OS (V5R4) partition is 172.xx.xx.10. Works great.

The addresses need to be adjusted to work in the home environment of course, and they should be outside the range of the DHCP addresses that are assigned by the (I'm guessing) cable router or firewallwireless router unit that is being used.

The company (a sole proprietorship) is closing its doors as of the close of business day tomorrow. We will still be running some applications on the System i so the owner can have proper financials for tax purposes. A question was raised about taking the 520 to his home after that in case anything came up for unforeseen transactions/reports/etc.

I am not a network or cabling guru by any stretch of the imagination. Is this even possible without some significant changes? What would need to be done as regards the LAN Console (which is my PC)? Could he just install both on his home network (I think he uses Comcast - cable) with a router? Geez, I wish I knew what I was talking about.
