There is nothing wrong with that approach and it appears to be IBMs
preferred method. They do need to fix their DHCP private subnet to
allow for more flexibility. But using the private network does not
allow you to use 2 HMCs in two different networks in two different state
to control 4 iSeries.

But if you do not have the requirement for the advanced routing
necessary for a multiple HMC to multiple iSeries across remote networks,
then the private network is the right solution and you should be able to
define it the way you want.

Also I would never introduce a third party DHCP server into the private
HMC network, but I would use fixed IP address and put them into my
internal DNS so I can access the FSP by name.
