Correct, as the saves that you do on the HMC are all about the HMC.

The saves that take place on the HMC really don't save any of the firmware
or do they?? I am trying to think of how you would go back in the event of
a problem. I think you would have to reload the older version that you were
running??

Rob,

You are correct in that statement. When you apply Corrective
Service to your FSP, you will have the same version but different PTF
levels
(P & T side). When you change the version EL340 to EL350 you don't keep
the
old one on the P side.

Kirk does that also apply when you go from EL340_xxx to EL350_xxx and not
just a EL340_123 to EL340_234? After all, when you upgrade from 6.1 to
7.1 you can't go back to 6.1 by IPLing from the 'A' side.

BTW: I had two boxes on EL350_071 and upgraded them already to EL350_085.
I had one on EM350_071 and upgraded it to _085. All updates were
concurrent. One of the EL350_085 has been IPLed. Multi FSP boxes like
the 9117 (which runs the EM350_085) will do my upgrade concurrent but will
call IBM because it gets confused. Scheduling an IPL later will help
clear up the issue.

HMC is running:
Version: 7 Build Level: 20100225.1 Serial Number: 103404A
Release: 7.1.0 Base Version: V7R7.1.0 Model Type: eserver xSeries 335

Not sure how to revert other than setting the control panel to 'P' setting
vs the 'T'. Which can be done from the HMC somewhere too. OS has A(perm)
and B(temp), firmware has P(erm) and T(emp)

Hi Everyone,

I'm updating a system from EL340_75 to EL350_071_038, and I just want to
double-check something. If for some reason it goes bad and I have to
revert back, can I do this from the Save Upgrade Data HMC backup? Or
would
this code level be saved on the individual SAVSYS backups on each
partition?

I've already upgraded the HMC by the way (from V7R3.4.0 to V7R3.5.0).
