Installing WAS PTFs via the standard PTF Process only copies the WAS PTF
objects on to the system, it does note update the actual code on the
system.
I think they did this to shorten the IPL times since the scripts can take
anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more depending onthe system etc.
The Cover Letter for hte WAS Group PTF should provide the instructions for
running the scripts. On more recent PTFs I have seen a message in QHST
during the PTF applies during the IPL that starts with ***. By prompting
those messages it will give you the location of the scripts. With WAS aand
the HTTP servers down do a STRQSH and then type in the script location. On
my V7R1 system and WAS61 it is at
/QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/AppServer/V61/Express/bin/installFixPack61031 your
location may be different ( but close ) Once you press enter wait for the $
prompt to come back before you exit qshell. You should see a job running
like qupdatewas ( can't remember for sure the correct name ). It will have
been submitted via the QSYSNOMAX jobq and wil be running is QSYSWRK sbs,

IBM i 6.1 and WAS 7. It was the WAS install that was the kicker, if I
remember correctly. I may have tried a couple of versions.

You can install the Jazz engine on a PC, and just put the build part
thethe i - this is how I would do it, to avoid the WAS thing. It's much
easier, it seems, to install the Jazz engine on anything other than
i.
