That must have been it. Apparently yesterday I ran a process that started PCO; in fact, I'm pretty sure that I did. Anyway, adding

MONMSG MSGID(IWS4032) EXEC(GOTO CMDLBL(END))
STRPCO
MONMSG MSGID(IWS4010)

prior to the CHGVAR and STRPCCMD did the trick.

My thanks to you, Kevin, and Charles for pointing out the error of my ways.

I have an older document handler that does not use the rundll32 method; just receives a document name and runs STRPCCMD, but I remembered yesterday, when I was working on this that Scott said that the rundll32 method was preferable so I decided to use that here. Just missed the part in the archives (if it is there) about having to start PCO. But I really should have realized that since both CLs use STRPCCMD. I need another cup (pot?) of coffee.
