Using WinXP and Client Access v5r3m0 (service pack SI30707), and just
installed WinPatrol to try to get a handle on the 2,894,320,199 programs
that start up automatically on reboot.

WinPatrol reports:
Client Access Service - cwbsvstr.exe
Client Access Help Update - cwbinhlp.exe
Client Access Check Version - cwbckver.exe LOGIN
Client Access Express Welcome - cwbwlwiz.exe
Client Access PC5250 sound - pcssnd.exe

I searched the archives and IBM.com for cwbsvstr and came up with nothing
that indicates whether this is essential. I also checked under "iSeries
Access for Windows Properties"; the only thing referencing startup was the
"Show Welcome Wizard...", which was unchecked. I want to take a cautious
approach to eliminating startup apps, rather than disabling everything and
potentially running the Windows' version of Mr. Barsa's MAKEAMESS command.
Can anyone advise on which of these, if any, can be safely pulled from
startup?

TIA,
Dan
