Rob,

Sorry, forgot to add that the following syntax is also valid:

Exec SQL Set :Var1 = 'A', :Var2 = 'B', :Var3 = 5.3 ;

In fact, IIRC, if you are writing stored procedures the more SETs you can
group in one statement, the better in performance terms. Don't know if th is
still applies to releases after V5R3.

Rob,

This is allowed for me (V5R3, I'm afraid):

EXEC SQL Set (:Var1, :Var2) = ('E', 00) ;

Nice. Does that work for multiple returns or should you use VALUES
instead of SET for that?

An alternative syntax for SQLRPGLE could be:

EXEC SQL SET :NumReg = week(current date) ;

The use of sysdummy1 has been deprecated on supported versions of the
operating system. I suggest you use VALUES instead of SELECT for
instances when you are tempted to use sysdummy1

Replace:
select week(current date) from sysibm/sysdummy1
With:
values week(current date)
or in sql rpg
exec sql values week(current date) into :WeekNumber;
